PLANNER MILL CHAIN PULLER
Pulls lumber from moving conveyor coming from planer and stacks onto bunks. Work directed by "Lead Chain Puller" or supervisor. Wood is ready for counting, stacking and shipping to customer per order. Worker reads grade stamps, marks and pulls based on size, species, grade and places onto bunks for stacking at specific height. Up to 50% may be wet and 75% is smoothed through planer machine. Wood graded by others. Most count accurately, stack neatly, turn wane or rough edges inside to center of "package" or load. Pullers obtain supplies for the work station, straighten lumber jammed, clean up on or under tables using brooms, shovels, hands and pick up broken/fallen lumber under chains. Must have ability to see and read abbreviations, colors and understand markings differentiating grade and or species.
The worker may be asked to work in another area of the Mill as production warrants. Downtime is clean up time. Therefore, pending production needs, the worker will be asked to clean an area of the Mil
Machinery, tools, equipment, personal protective equipment:
Aluminum shovel with wooden handle, rakes of various sizes and shapes, pitchforks, wheelbarrow, air hoses, tractor with front-end scoop, broom, etc.
• Working at heights/balancing Frequently
• Lifting and Carrying
• Climbing ladders/Stairs
• Twisting at waist.
HOURS / SHIFTS:
Rubber gloves, hard hats, earplugs, safety glasses, work boots and leather apron optional. Use leather gloves on dry wood about 50% of the time. May need to use whistle to notify stacker drivers to move loads as they become full.
